I remember dreaming about building a house when I was a kid. My uncle, in fact two of my uncles, worked in construction. One of them was a master stonemason from Italy.
And, it seems that they were always doing something around the compound where I grew up… new flower beds, walk ways, a patio, two patios actually. A new garage, where I spent many an hour with another uncle taking apart carburetors and tuning engines. They even built an apartment over that four car garage.
One of my uncles worked on the construction of this wonderful new thing called Disneyland. (Yes, I’m old enough to say new thing Disneyland.) We got to tour it before it opened to the public, special days for the families of the construction workers. After it opened we had gobs of free passes. I really grew to hate Disneyland. I have no desire to ever return.
The Tomorrow Land Rocket to the Moon was cool, but really, how many times could a little kid sit on that vibrating seat and still be thrilled.
So here I am now, building a house. And, I want to plan it all out to the last detail.
I started this site to chronicle the progress, and provide easy access to pictures for suppliers, workers, and vendors. It will also provide a means to vent my frustrations with City Hall, vendors that don’t know their own products, and the many other road blocks, pot holes, and other disasters on the road to completion.
- Yup... It is true... I actually went there so often as a kid, I would pout in the back seat…
- Bart hates Disneyland? Now that is funny. I know it's been a struggle so far but hang in there when…
